so i found the rug of my dreams, which sound ridiculous, but this is a “poem” rug from BALLARD DESIGNS that would look perfect under our new dining table set. it incorporates literature, my favorite thing in the world and it’s actually priced pretty reasonably considering it’s a hand hooked rug, which is very popular right now, it’s made of durable materials, and comes in a few different colors. of course i like the cream and black one. here’s a little description that i adore and completely sold this piece for me.

this is so dreamy. if we can recreate this with some open spaces underneath for basket storage i will be so stoked. 

we have an area in our kitchen that’s too small for a table, but big enough to need something practical. we’ve decided to put open shelving on one wall, but we couldn’t decide on what to do with the area under the huge window. well i came across some photos of really cute window seating and finally decided, and hopefully colin agrees? that it’s the perfect solution for our home. we can include spaces underneath for really cute baskets for extra storage!! these were some photos i liked. it’d be the perfect way to incorporate fun fabric, pillows, and color into our kitchen since our home is overwhelmed with earth tone neutrals at the moment.

so, we stayed up until 2:00 a.m. last night assembling our dining room furniture and it was well worth it. we love, love the way everything turned out. the runner my mom bought us really brought it all together when we finally added our finishing touches. i need to take a better photo, but this is a cell phone shot of everything!

we finally found dining furniture that we loved at world market. the texture on all of the pieces is really raw, which was one detail we were really looking for. and the wood was light so that makes it easy to match with a lot of the stuff we eventually want to incorporate into our home. the bench seating is really unique too, which was a feature we thought went well with out bulb chandelier. i can’t wait to get it all assembled!

once we knock out the closet in our entrance, i’d love to try and recreate this for fall one year! 

these were a few other shower curtains i liked that we didn’t agree on. the ruffled curtain i posted earlier is definitely my favorite though. the octopus one is my second choice. i guess we need two, so maybe i’ll get that one for our master bath? if you go on pinterest.com and type in “shower curtain” these all show up on there. 

after scouring the internet for shower curtains we may have found the one. it’s from urban outfitters, so unfortunately we can’t add it to our wedding registry, but it’s definitely a piece we’re planning on building the rest of our bathroom around.

we took an old nightstand, another piece of furniture my mom was going to toss out, and painted it with flat black. right now we’re going to use it as a media stand for our t.v. until we can find an entertainment center we can afford/like.
