so i found the rug of my dreams, which sound ridiculous, but this is a “poem” rug from BALLARD DESIGNS that would look perfect under our new dining table set. it incorporates literature, my favorite thing in the world and it’s actually priced pretty reasonably considering it’s a hand hooked rug, which is very popular right now, it’s made of durable materials, and comes in a few different colors. of course i like the cream and black one. here’s a little description that i adore and completely sold this piece for me.
"The elegant poem rug design was created with words from famed 17th century French fabulist, Jean de La Fontaine. La Cigale et La Fourmi tells the story of an industrious ant, a carefree cricket and the end of summer. Inspired by the fables of Aesop, La Fontaine wrote volumes of simple poems using animals to teach real-life lessons.”

so, we stayed up until 2:00 a.m. last night assembling our dining room furniture and it was well worth it. we love, love the way everything turned out. the runner my mom bought us really brought it all together when we finally added our finishing touches. i need to take a better photo, but this is a cell phone shot of everything!

originally we wanted the bulb chandelier from pottery barn, but we found this piece from the allen + roth collection at Lowes for much less so decided to go with this lighting. it has more of a tear drop shape, so we thought that added a little more character. we love, love it.
